Our Mission
The Joseph A. Gilmore, Sr., Adult Day Center’s (Gilmore Center) mission is to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment, for clients who have been identified by family members and/or health care professionals as needing social environment. That includes classroom activities with interactive opportunities and supervision provided by licensed health care professionals who also assist with their activities for daily living (ADL’s).
This is accomplished by a variety of daily activities inclusive of cognitive, physical and emotional stimulation that will allow the client’s family to pursue their daily routine without concern for the safety or wellbeing of their loved one.
Caregiver Support
The Gilmore Adult Day Center strives to provide value-added services for caregivers. We co-market the County’s Respite Program; we provide advisory services through the Prince George’s Alzheimer’s Association and related services offered by the state and county governments.
Transportation Service
If you should require the use of our transportation service, please provide us with a pickup times in the morning and a drop-off time in the evening when completing the enrollment form. If you are enrolled in Metro Access, please coordinate directly with them for your loved one’s transportation needs.
Allied Medical Services
Haircuts are every other Wednesday. If you want us to provide Allied Medical Services such as occupational therapy, physical therapy or podiatry, please indicate on the pertinent form(s) when enrolling.
Wellness & Nutrition
We provide breakfast, lunch, and snack and beverage services on a daily basis. Menus are updated monthly on the last week of the current month for the following month. All menus are based on a nutrition assessment under the stewardship of the RN with direction provided by the Primary Care Physician as set forth in the Doctor’s Order.
The Gilmore Adult Center is enrolled in the Maryland Nutrition Program which requires a nutrition assessment for all new and existing clients. The nutrition assessment is designed to ensure that each client meets his/her individual dietary requirements for breakfast and lunch (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure; pureed food, etc.). The Maryland Nutrition program requires us to observe the following:
- Off-menu selections are provided daily
- Milk is a key component to our beverage service
- USDA menu requirements relative to portions and calories
- Point of Service – we are required to record meals served including breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack
We also recently launched a wellness program that is administered by the center’s RN, Medical Director and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Barbering, etc.).
